NEW THIS YEAR! Help us spread the word about additional

scholarship dollars and supports available for students

from rural communities!

WSOS is excited to launch the Rural Jobs Initiative of the Career and Technical Scholarship. The inaugural cohort of Rural Jobs recipients will be selected from those Scholars accepted into the CTS program in June. This initiative will allow more scholarship dollars to go directly into the hands of rural students, particularly those who live furthest from the nearest community or technical college.

  • Be a resident of a rural county (all counties in Washington are considered rural EXCEPT King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, Thurston, Clark, Benton and Spokane) or have graduated from a high school in a school district of fewer than 2,000 enrolled students.
  • Be a resident student eligible for in-state tuition.
  • Enroll at a community and technical college located in a rural county, including:
  • Bellingham Technical College
  • Big Bend Community College
  • Centralia College

Washington communities need scholarships

like ours more than ever.

We support Washington residents of any age who are out of work or looking to re-skill, in addition to high school seniors looking to continue their education this fall. We're counting on you to reach them! Thank you for all you do!

P.S. Don't forget to check out our new Promotional Toolkit to promote both CTS and the Rural Jobs Initiative. The toolkit will make it easy for champions like you to spread the word so that we can reach eligible applicants in every corner of Washington state.

We opened registration for the 2020 Aviation Design Challenge on August 17, with slots available for the first 150 high school teachers that enter. There are still 100 slots available! The competition is free – we provide a curriculum developed in alignment with national STEM standards along with the world's top software for personal computers through a partnership with Fly to Learn and X-Plane. The winning team receives an all-expenses-paid trip to experience general aviation manufacturing firsthand, and the team placing second receives a prize of an in-school, two-day STEM Lab Camp hosted by Redbird Flight Simulations.
