From WSOS: A chance for students for a $1500 per term scholarship! Applications due June 4!

Dear Educators, 

COVID-19 has impacted our communities, schools, and students in ways we have yet to fully comprehend. Accessing financial aid to re-skill for our future economy is critical for many Washingtonians and is possible through WSOS scholarship pathways. We are currently at the mid-point of our Fall 2020 Career and Technical Scholarship (CTS) application cycle.

 

WSOS has received far fewer applications over last year and are enthusiastic to enroll 225 new CTS Scholars this June. Can we count on you to promote our offering? Below you will find content we hope will help you promote CTS:


What:

Apply now for the Career and Technical Scholarship provided by the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship program! The Career and Technical Scholarship (CTS) provides Washington state residents with $1,500 per quarter towards an eligible associate degree, certificate or apprenticeship in a trade, STEM or health care field. Funding can be used at any Washington state community or technical college and can be used to cover tuition, fees and other costs of attendance such as housing, transportation, food and more. When:

Complete the short online CTS application between April 6 and June 4, 2020.


Who:

High school seniors or matriculated students who earned their diploma or GED in the state of Washington. Explore eligibility criteria through the CTS website.


Amount:

Receive up to $1,500 each quarter for the duration of their associate degree, certificate or apprenticeship program. These scholarship funds are flexible and can be used to cover tuition, fees and other costs of attendance such as housing, transportation, food and more


Deadline:

Midnight, June 4, 2020

Science Updates Test Design and Item Specifications for the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) for grades 5, 8, and high school are now available on the Science Assessment webpage .  The documents describe how clusters (stimulus and item sets) and standalone items for the WCAS assessments are developed to assess the Washington State 2013 K-12 Science Learning Standards ( Next Generation Science Standards ). The documents include a test design section followed by an item specification section. The test design section includes information about the organization of the WCAS, the item types used, and an overview of the science standards.
