EarthGen: Climate Justice League, Assemble!

EarthGen is excited to share this cohort-based learning opportunity designed for teachers across Washington State to deepen their Climate Justice learning.

Climate Justice League, Assemble!
When: Feb 15 2024 9AM - 3PM
Where: Good Shepherd Center in Seattle

Climate Justice League, Assemble! is an in-person offering on February 15th from 9am-3pm at the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle and will provide teachers opportunities to critically define climate justice education and improve their understanding of Anti-racist and Anti-colonial science teaching. Educators will be invited to participate in online communities of practice following the workshop.

A few things to note:

  • While this learning opportunity is designed for folks that have participated in the Climate Justice League, we are excited to have space for new registrants!

  • Teachers will be provided sub reimbursement to attend the in-person session, and upon completion of the session will earn 6 STEM Clock Hours.

Science Training Tests Released (12/22)

WCAS training tests now available Science Training Tests Training Tests for the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) for grades 5, 8, and high school are now available on the WCAP Portal . The Training Tests are intended to help students become familiar with the features and tools of online tests. To experience the greatest variety of question types and test functionalities, students in 5th, 8th, and 11th grade should interact with the training tests at all three grade levels.   Each training test includes one standalone question and one cluster (a set of stimuli and questions). The standalone questions and clusters on the training tests were developed by Washington educators, field tested by Washington students, and reviewed and approved by Washington educators. OSPI Science Assessment Webpage updates

Science Assessment Updates Greetings from the Science Assessment Team! We hope you can take a few minutes during this exciting time of year to visit the OSPI Science Assessment webpage . We recently updated the site with information about: The Assessment Bill ESSB-2224 Postpones the high school science assessment graduation requirement until the class of 2021. The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) Will be administered for the first time in spring 2018. The assessments fulfill the federal requirement that students be tested once in science at each level: elementary, middle, and high school. Will be online in grades 5, 8, and 11. Will assess the Washington State 2013 K-12 Science Learning Standards ( Next Generation Science Standards ).  Training Tests, Items Specifications, and Lessons Learned for Scoring Student Work are coming later this fall.
