OpenSciEd is seeking input! Substitute plans and absent student support

Attention teachers who have OpenSciEd experience and ideas! A call for crowdsourcing support from OpenSciEd! :)

We continually get feedback from teachers using our materials that they would like support with addressing two persistent challenges:

  1. Providing lesson plans/resources during their absence.

  2. Supporting absent students when they return to the classroom.

We're collecting ideas and solutions to these problems to create a resource guide for all teachers to use in their classrooms. We will also present our findings at NSTA in Denver, CO, and during our free Back-to-School webinars this summer. But to make this possible, we need your expert input!

We're conducting two brief surveys on the problem areas:
  • Substitute Teacher Plans: We want to hear your strategies for ensuring seamless learning even when you're away. Share your go-to resources, planning tips, and any creative solutions you've found.
  • Supporting Absent Students: Using our curriculum in your classroom? We want to know how you support students who have missed significant parts of the institutional model, such as the unit anchoring phenomenon, the problematizing routine, or the data discussions.
All survey participants will be entered into a gift card giveaway, and the winners will be announced on February 12th! We can't wait to hear your thoughts and ideas. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to inspiring the next generation of scientists!

Do you know any fellow educators who may have input on these topics? Please feel free to forward this email or share the survey links directly.
Complete the survey(s) by
February 12th!
