Dear Science Supervisor:

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) would like to celebrate earth science teachers in your school district. That is why I am sharing details on how teachers can apply for the 2018 Edward C. Roy, Jr. Award for Excellence in K-8 Earth Science Teaching.
This annual award is presented to one teacher of grades K-8 in the United States or Key Stages 1-3 in the United Kingdom each year. The award recognizes leadership and innovation in Earth science education.
The winner of the Edward C. Roy Award will receive a cash prize and an additional travel grant to attend the National Science Teachers Association Annual Conference  (NSTA) in Atlanta in March 2018. To be eligible, applications must be submitted by January 22, 2018.
The Edward C. Roy Award is given in honor of Dr. Edward C. Roy, Jr., a strong and dedicated supporter of Earth science education. For more information on requirements, application procedures and deadlines, please click here.

The online curriculum is a University of Washington college course focused on NASA’s space exploration program as well as topics in earth and space science. If they successfully complete the online curriculum, students are invited to participate in multi-day summer experiences that provide them to the opportunity to work with STEM professionals, NASA scientists, university students and STEM educators. Science Training Tests Released (12/22)

WCAS training tests now available Science Training Tests Training Tests for the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) for grades 5, 8, and high school are now available on the WCAP Portal . The Training Tests are intended to help students become familiar with the features and tools of online tests. To experience the greatest variety of question types and test functionalities, students in 5th, 8th, and 11th grade should interact with the training tests at all three grade levels.   Each training test includes one standalone question and one cluster (a set of stimuli and questions). The standalone questions and clusters on the training tests were developed by Washington educators, field tested by Washington students, and reviewed and approved by Washington educators.
