Climate Science 3.0: Modeling and Student Explanations

 

The January Cohort is NOW open for Registration

 

Course Description: In this FREE online asynchronous Canvas Course, attendees will learn a protocol for developing and using models as a means for students to explain their thinking and understanding of scientific concepts. In this context of the course, the protocol will be applied to a climate science topic. With regard to NGSS alignment, the course focuses on the practice "Developing and Using Models", as well as "Constructing Explanations" within the dimension "Science and Engineering Practices". Upon completion, participants can earn 10 STEM clock hours.

  • January Cohort participants will need to commit between 6 to 10 hours in order to complete all lessons
  • The course is open from January 1, 2021 7:00 AM to January 29, 2021 5:00 PM
  • All January wait listed participants will be offered placement in the February or March Cohorts
  • All January, February, and March cohorts contain the same content – PLEASE do not register for all three
  • Funding for the course provided by the Climate Science Proviso

EarthGen: Climate Justice League, Assemble!

EarthGen is excited to share t his cohort-based learning opportunity designed for teachers across Washington State to deepen their Climate Justice learning. Climate Justice League, Assemble! When: Feb 15 2024 9AM - 3PM Where: Good Shepherd Center in Seattle Climate Justice League, Assemble!  is an  in-person offering on  February 15th from 9am-3pm at the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle  and will provide teachers opportunities to critically define climate justice education and improve their understanding of Anti-racist and Anti-colonial science teaching. Educators will be invited to participate in online communities of practice following the workshop.
